If your sports team struck out, or lost the ball 9 out of 10 times, what would you say? How can you fail so much and still be number ONE???
I need to get a shirt printed, and my local guy retired his equipment and can no longer do the service for me. I’ve printed this shirt each year for the past 8 years. So I go on Google and pull up a search for shirt printers in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Sounds simple doesn’t it.
The first links at the top, after the “paid” link lists the SAME company TWICE, which is only in Fort Lauderdale Florida and Columbia Heights, Maryland. Now, I ask myself how Google thinks Charlottesville is in either of these locations ????
A few years ago, Google announced that it would start penalizing sites that engaged in the activity called “keyword spamming.” This is when the web site owner puts tons and tons of keywords into the code just to ‘game’ Google and get to the top of the search results. So all the legitimate web developers went to Google’s guidelines and complied to the letter.
This company called “Pace 4 Print” has put several thousand keywords into their pages, which includes listing every Charlottesville sized city you can think of. And have repeated them several times. Of course it turns up first.
Google told us it would penalize these crooks, but obviously did not penalize this crook.
But don’t knock that . . . NONE of the others on the first page of Google had anything to do with Charlottesville or direct-to-garment printing. The ones it did find in Charlottesville don’t offer direct-to-garment printing.
Bottom line? Google proved, once again, useless for a search.
