Improve your mental clarity, problem solving, and focus.

I love journaling. It allows you both to release your mind and reflect on past wins + lessons learned. Many of the worlds most prolific entrepreneurs journal daily — Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey, and John D Rockefeller. The art of journaling has become a must for any successful entrepreneur. That being said, if you’re anything like me, you have a hard time making it part of the routine without a bit of prodding. Because of this problem, I decided to hack my version of Journaling 2.0.

Journaling 2.0 — Hack the email and journal where you already spend your time.

I researched several options for this, and the best option I could find, was a free service from a company called SendRecurring.Com. It takes about 5 minutes to set up, and it truly is free.

To note — I am not affiliated with in any way

Step 1: Visit and register.

Step 2: This may be the most challenging part, deciding what you would like the focus of the journal to be. There are MANY different potential focusses from fitness and health, to business and goal setting. I personally love to think about the day ahead and apply a few goals ahead of time. You can see an example of this below.

You should also set the frequency of your email during this time. I set mine to a daily email and generally receive it at 7:00AM.

Step 3: If you would like a weekly text, you can also do that! There are some limitations with the text features, so I generally set this to once a week. To good thing is that they use the same number each time, so you can begin to track your thoughts and even apply a contact name to the number.

Step 4: Lastly, it is important to keep track of all of your journals. To do this, go to the labels section of our email and “Create a New Label.” You can then apply a name so you can easily filter out all of your journal entries from your email (see below).

DONE — That’s all there is to it. It is incredibly easy to set up and you will benefit greatly from it! You will now receive a daily thoughtful email to help take you to that next level. When you reply to the email it sends your response right back to you. This is great because it give you a moment to reflect on your plans/goals/hopes/wishes. This is the points in which you apply your labeling (step 4), and then take on the day!

A few important notes regarding the limitations of (unless you’re comfortable paying).

  • 50 emails a month — More than enough for a daily email.
  • 5 texts a month — Perfect for a weekly check in.

As you can see, it shouldn’t impact most people, a daily journal and a weekly text is certainly more than adequate.

The Benefits of Journaling — Founders, Artists, Students, Creatives…All People.

I thoughts i’d leave you with a few quotes about journaling from some of the most successful people that have ever existed (Sourced by Jack Delosa).

Richard Branson — “Some of Virgin’s most successful companies have been born from random moments — if we hadn’t opened our notebooks, they would never have happened.”

Oprah Winfrey — “Keeping a journal will absolutely change your life in ways you’ve never imagined”.

Nelson Mandela — “There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.”

John D. Rockefeller — “More than once I have gone to luncheon with a number of our heads of department and have seen the sweat start out on the foreheads of some of them when that little red notebook was pulled out.”
