Riding the light rail into work offers me a chance to listen to podcasts, get out some emails, listen to music, or stare mindlessly out the window.
Yes, more times than not, I’m wasting space on this train just like I might be sitting in front a tv, tablet, or my phone. How can I best use my time? I see countless posts and books on time management and crushing your day and these give me great ideas. Still, I rarely, and certainly never consistently, implement them. It seems the biggest culprit is avoidance. This is the tendency to do anything, and I mean anything, to not do. Sure, feeling and thinking can be a monster in our closet we’ll do anything to avoid too; but, I notice (I could be on an island, but I doubt it) I’ll think and feel about a lot of things. In fact, I use all kinds of generic planning and plotting tools (books, podcasts, blogs) to make sure I’m best equipped to take over the world!!…..someday.
What would happen if I just did. You know, one foot in front of the other. Do that thing. Maybe someday.
