( CNN) The decision to come to the United States wasn’t an easy-going one. Carolina, a 33 -year-old mother of three, said it was perhaps one of the most severe the actions of her life — one taken after numerous sleepless nights in her Barquisimeto, Venezuela, suite.
Holding back tears, she recollects a nighttime spent on the storey. She clustered with her three kids, praying, as Venezuelan government personnels furiously clashed with protesters outside her apartment walls. In wall street anti-government demonstrators necessitated Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro step down. Their dissents were met with tear gas, sea cannons, and rubber missiles. During that night of April 11, three Venezuelans would die in the Barquisimeto neighborhood.
“The hardest moments happened on the last days, ” Carolina articulated. Carolina is not her real identify. She has asked to remain anonymous for panic of reprisal against their own families in Venezuela.
